RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Assarzadegan’s research focuses on gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreaticobiliary pathology, with an emphasis on identifying diagnostic and prognostic markers that improve patient care. Her work includes studies on colorectal cancer prognostic factors (including tumor budding and venous invasion), molecular alterations in GI neoplasia, patterns of inflammatory bowel disease and immune checkpoint inhibitor–associated colitis, and the tumor microenvironment in pancreatic cancer and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs).
