Nikos is a soil scientist with proven experience in projects related to artificial intelligence. He has been involved in research and innovation projects focused on developing new observational modalities for soil monitoring and informed decision-making, utilizing computational intelligence techniques, new thermal sensor concepts, and state-of-the-art observational platforms (satellites and distributed sensing).

He has implemmented several projects, including the development of Earth Observation data infrastructures, physical process models, and deep learning algorithms to demonstrate the use of Earth Observation in the integrated monitoring of the water-food-crop nexus, land degradation neutrality, and precision agriculture. His research focuses on the challenges of integrating data from spaceborne and airborne sources with in situ measurements through explainable artificial intelligence modeling, aimed at developing innovative operational services at different spatial scales.
