Jennifer Boddicker

Jennifer Boddicker earned a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa studying the pathogenic mechanisms of Salmonella typhimurium using molecular genetics techniques. She went on to study biofilm formation of Klebsiella pneumoniae in the laboratory of Dr. Steven Clegg. She then completed a CDC/APHL fellowship at the Iowa Public Health Laboratory, where she helped to design and validate a new rapid test for mumps virus during a mumps outbreak in the Midwest. Dr. Boddicker then accepted a lecturer position at the University of Iowa, where she taught a variety of microbiology classes to undergraduate, graduate, medical, nursing, and dental students. After relocating to beautiful Florida, she taught at Florida Gulf Coast University and collaborated on research projects to identify parasites of invasive species, like cane toads, iguanas, and Burmese pythons. Dr. Boddicker is now delighted to be a full time lecturer in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, teaching Advanced Bacteriology and Infectious Diseases to graduate and medical students in the College of Medicine.
