BIO
Chris J. Hass is a professor of applied physiology and kinesiology at the College of Health and Human Performance and an affiliate faculty member at the Fixel Center for Neurological Diseases. He is a graduate of the University of Florida (M.S. and Ph.D.), and before returning to UF in 2006, he held academic positions at Columbia University and Georgia Institute of Technology. He has taught biomechanics, neuroscience, research methods, and motor control courses. Hass’s research focuses on understanding the complex interplay between the nervous and musculoskeletal systems during whole-body movements such as walking and standing balance. Most of his work has substantial clinical relevance, particularly on movement disorders. He has held leadership positions in the American Society of Biomechanics and the American College of Sports Medicine.
