RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Bafor's research examines how the immune system maintains tolerance in the reproductive tract and how its disruption contributes to reproductive failure, infertility and ovarian cancer. The Bafor Lab focuses on T cells, particulalry a unique group of T cells known as double-negative T cells (DNTs), which help maintain immune balance in the ovary and uterus. Dr. Bafor's lab studies how conventional CD8⁺ T cells can reprogram into these suppressive DNTs and how this process is altered in autoimmune and tumor settings.
Work in Dr. Bafor's lab integrates immunology, reproductive biology, and molecular engineering to uncover mechanisms that govern tissue-specific immune adaptation. By combining animal models, transcriptomic analyses, and immune profiling, Dr. Bafor aims to translate these insights into new immunotherapies that restore fertility or enhance anti-tumor immunity.
